History of Bingo

Bingo is a direct descendent from a form Italian lottery named Lo Giuoco del Lotto d\\\'Italia, founded in 1530. Word of the game had spread to France in 1778, becoming so popular it was widely played throughout Europe during the early 1800s.

In 1929 the game arrived in North America, where it became known as “Beano,” making its debut in Atlanta, Georgia. The game was renamed Bingo by a toy salesman from New York named Edwin S. Lowe, who heard someone accidently yell “Bingo” supposing to mean Beano. In North America, 90 million US Dollars are reportedly spent on the game every week.

Bingo is usually played in large halls or casinos with very good prize money at stake for the winner. Online casinos have also tapped into the game’s popularity, evolving another side of the game with the latest technological advancements.

Rules of Bingo

The simplicity of Bingo and its rules are one of its most endearing features, and a reason behind its widespread popularity. The rules can be picked up in a matter of minutes. Bingo is a fun and exciting game with potential big dividends for a large winner.

The main objective of the game is to be the first player to mark off the numbers on your individual card, corresponding with the numbers being announced by the “Caller” or “Chat Master” (online bingo).

The Bingo card or board contains 5 rows of random numbers horizontally and 5 vertically, with a total of 25 numbers on the card altogether. There are certain variations of the game within the game, for example, each of the 5 lines are vertically labeled with the letters B-I-N-G-O, and if you are the first person to mark off a line of numbers or the entire card, you shout “bingo” or “house,” winning a set amount of prize money.

Online Bingo games will automatically mark off the numbers for you, and save a lot of time and trouble in the process.
