The history of the game Rummy has long been in conflict, with some claiming the game originates from late 19th century New York. Others claim an oriental origin dating back to the 18th century Chinese game of Mahjong, which shares similar elements.
Other sources attribute Rummy to the Spanish who emigrated to the west, evolving from a card game named Conquian, which shares an uncanny resemblance to Gin Rummy, considered to be the father of all modern Rummy games.
Rules of Rummy
Straight Rummy is generally played by 2 – 6 players, using a 52 cars standard pack. Rummy is a points based card game, with a target score that needs to be agreed by the players beforehand (100 points is default).
